After nearly a year of dinners, yacht sightings, and global travel, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau finally did the thing. On Monday, June 8, the couple walked their first red carpet together at the 2026 Tribeca Festival in New York City. No more paparazzi candids. No more “just friends” speculation. This was full-on, posed-for-the-cameras, hand-in-hand official.
The occasion was the world premiere of Perry’s new concert film, ‘Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour Live From Paris’, which screened at the OKX Theater at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center. And honestly, the film almost played second fiddle to the couple’s red carpet moment.

Perry showed up in a white halter-neck gown with rose-like detailing. Her hair was swept up in a bun with a fringe and side tresses framing her face. Classic, elegant, very leading-lady energy. Trudeau kept it simple in a black suit with a crisp white shirt. Clean. Reliable. Very former prime minister at his pop star girlfriend’s movie premiere.

The two were photographed together by the cameras, and one image showed Trudeau kissing Perry on the cheek while pulling her close. They were spotted caressing each other and affectionately touching foreheads at the premiere. Safe to say nobody was playing it cool.

They went Instagram official in December 2025 and have since been spotted together around the world, from Japan to Coachella. In January 2026, Perry joined Trudeau at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, where the couple held hands while leaving an event. That was their first public appearance of the year together, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
Before the Tribeca premiere, the couple also stepped out at the ‘Beef’ Season 2 Montecito Tastemaker event in April, where they posed for a picture with Netflix boss Ted Sarandos and his wife Nicole Avant. She also talked about why she made it. “I’m doing all of this for my fans because they are the ones that have helped me along for all these years, over 18 years, and it’s just such a fun thing to encapsulate,” Perry said. The Lifetimes Tour has been a major chapter for her, and the Paris concert film is her way of bringing fans into that experience.

Trudeau’s eldest son Xavier, who is an aspiring musician, told the ‘Can’t Be Censored’ podcast that he often turns to Perry for feedback on his music. “When I’m really happy with a song, I sent it to her,” he said. Trudeau stepped down as Canadian prime minister in March 2025. He was previously married to Sophie Gregoire, and the two announced their separation in the summer of 2023 after an 18-year relationship and three children.
